Trick or Treat — Sip a Treat: Candy Flavored Vodka Cocktails

These delicious, candy-flavored cocktails are each only 2-ingredients and taste as though you’re taking a sip of the real thing. Perfect for Halloween!

If you don’t know me in person, you probably only know me for my food. What you don’t know, is along with silly names like, Breakfast, Mrs. Cashew, or V- Girl, my friends have also been calling me, “The Mix Masteress,” for quite some time. In fact, that’s been a nickname of mine even longer than the rest of those. Longer than the time I’ve been vegan.

If you are vegan like me, you probably haven’t had a tootsie roll in quite a long time, or ever, if you’ve always eaten a  plant-based diet. Well, luckily I know the formula to make a delicious Tootsie Roll cocktail that is vegan!

Even if you eat the candies, why wouldn’t you want to drink one? Especially one made as an adult beverage. Halloween isn’t only for the kiddos.

The tootsie roll combo, which is orange and chocolate, I learned many years ago when I used to work at a diner which contained an ice cream shop inside. Someone asked me for a “Tootsie Roll,” and I didn’t know what that was (I mean, aside from the popular candy). She taught me it was an ice cream float with chocolate ice cream and orange soda. Then said, “It must be an east coast thing,” so depending on where you’re from, this may be no surprise to you. Before that day, I, however,  never knew how you got that almost chocolate flavor.

It sounded pretty strange, but I was rather surprised when I later made one for myself. It really did taste just like a Tootsie Roll! A few years later is when I started making my more “adult” version of this yummy drink!

The other delicious candy-flavored drink I’m sharing is a Caramel Apple! Unless you make it yourself (as I’ve done for the apples in these photos), caramel isn’t typically vegan. Luckily caramel vodka is, or at least I know Smirnoff’s Kissed Caramel is. For other brands, you may want first to do some research.

I love this Caramel Apple drink! Perhaps more than an actual caramel apple! For the soda, I use the Green Apple soda by Jones. If other brands make this flavor, I haven’t found them. For quite some time I was unable to verify if this soda was in fact vegan (I had no confirmation on the sugar or the coloring), but I’m happy to say I recently found a FAQ on their page stating that all their current flavors are vegan. YAY!

These two cocktails have always been my favorites to share at Halloween gatherings. They’re the perfect flavors, colors, and they’re lots of fun. People are pleasantly surprised when they taste them, aaaaand they’re each only two ingredients, making them quick and simple to prepare. It doesn’t get much better than that!

When making these please remember, they may be sweet and taste like candy, but they are also very strong, so be careful, drink responsibly, AND NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE! Again, it may taste like candy, but it’s not, so please don’t drink if you’re under 21! And one last thing… if you enjoy these drinks, please let me know by leaving a comment below, or tagging me on Instagram, @veggiesattiffanis! Happy Halloween!!!
